Pyramid Builders has been building the finest architecturally-designed estate homes in and around Annapolis and the near Eastern Shore for the past twenty years.

Our company is founded on the principles of providing homeowners and architects with the highest level of service possible, emphasizing construction craftsmanship, durability, and quality, and managing project costs and schedules to achieve the highest standards of accuracy and timeliness.

Our portfolio of projects has a heavy emphasis on waterfront construction. Twenty years of experience building in the harsh environment found at the water's edge enables us to construct homes that will withstand the ravages of wind, rain, salt, and time for decades to come.

Since we build exclusively at the high end of the quality scale, we have extensive experience with all luxury finishes. Our master craftsmen create works of art with a precision that is pleasing to the eye and a durability that ensures your home will look as good in twenty years as the day you move in.

We have been in business for twenty years and we take a long term view of the entire construction business. This approach is comprised of five components:
  • We build houses to last. From our fanatical foundation preparation to our best practices painting procedures, we always take the extra step to ensure that your home is rock solid, weather-tight, and durable. We build estate homes and we build them to last for generations to come.
  • We build homeowner relationships to last. We have a 100% referable client base. Without exception, every one of our clients over the past twenty years will recommend us to friends and family. Many of our clients use us for repeat business. Our entire company is designed to foster client loyalty. We earn it every day by conducting business with professionalism, honestly, and organization. Building your architecturally-designed home will demand significant effort from you. We understand this and strive to make the process as enjoyable and satisfying as possible.
  • We build architect relationships to last. We frequently assist architects by providing input early in the design process to ensure the final product will be built within the client's budget and time constraints. When we bid a project, we build the entire house on paper, generating a 300 plus page document for a typical estate home. This ensures we completely understand the project and our bid is accurate and all-inclusive, thus avoiding nasty surprises down the road. Finally, our multi-tiered management approach means we are able to provide unparalleled service and responsiveness to the architect.
  • We build subcontractor relationships to last. There are only a handful of subcontractors that can perform at the quality level we demand. It is imperative that we invest the time to locate them, train them in our construction practices, and then provide them with a work environment that enables them to perform their tasks efficiently. Building a large, complex, high quality home requires many different players all working in unison toward a common goal. The only way to consistently achieve the best results is to build a dependable team and then keep that team together.
  • We build employee relationships to last. We make a large investment in training all of our employees. We require a lot from everyone in terms of quality work and professionalism. In return, we provide an unsurpassed work environment and excellent benefits. The result is an experienced, hardworking, dedicated workforce with an exceptionally low turnover rate. Most of our employees have been with our company for over ten years.

Most construction companies are long on construction experience and short on business and management skills. A good example of this involves the way a typical custom residential project is managed. The common practice is to employ a Site Manager who is responsible for all aspects of a project. He must run the site and simultaneously manage the project. This approach is inappropriate for high-end construction because the workload is too great for one person to effectively handle.
In our view, the successful construction of a large, complex, high-quality home requires more than just a team of craftsmen and a Site Manager functioning as their leader. We combine the on-site expertise of our craftsmen and Site Supervisors with an equally talented team of professional Project Managers. The Site Supervisor and his team focus on the boards and bricks construction of the project. The Project Manager handles all of the business tasks associated with the construction of the project, including:
  • Scheduling activity of construction team members (staff and subcontractors)
  • Proactively obtaining input from client and architect on all product selections
  • Ordering materials and scheduling delivery on just-in-time basis
  • Detailing, pricing, documenting, and presenting change orders
  • Resolving all design and technical issues that arise during the project
  • Tracking all project costs and continually monitoring budgets

In addition, the company President provides oversight and overall quality control by visiting all sites a minimum of every other day. The added cost of this three-tiered management approach is more than recouped in terms of elimination of material waste, increased schedule efficiency, identification and correction of problems before they impact actual construction, and increased service provided to the client and the architect.

Pyramid Builders is the right size company to build architecturally-designed estate homes. Our company is small enough to offer the flexibility required to efficiently perform custom work. We are nimble and responsive so we can effectively interact with the client and the architect on a daily basis, always providing top notch service and delivering the results that are expected at this level.

Every project we undertake represents a sizeable percentage of our workload, enabling the entire management team, starting at the very top, to be intimately involved with every project we build. This results in more eyes on the project and ensures a better outcome. A builder that is working on ten or more simultaneous projects simply cannot devote the same level of attention to every project that we do.

On the other hand, we are large enough to efficiently build estate homes. We are able to employ in-house excavators, carpenters, tile setters, masons, stucco workers and painters so we have absolute control over the timing and quality of the most critical phases of construction. We conduct a large volume of repeat business with our subcontractors and material suppliers, which enables us to exert pricing leverage to reduce project costs. We have the financial stability associated with multiple, overlapping projects. This means we are never pressed for cash and never have to compromise quality or schedule due to financial constraints. A builder working on only one or two projects is prone to the occasional fiscal crunch.

In summary, Pyramid Builders combines uncompromising quality craftsmanship with an efficient and effective business culture and a dedication to customer service. This combination allows us to deliver the best product at the best value to the discriminating client.
